Build2Impact Quality Assurance Toolkit

The Common Inspection Framework (CIF) is a set of criteria that come out of the Learning and Skills Act 2000 and aim to bring all providers of education to a good standard. The CIF is based on the following five questions:

  • How well do learners achieve?
  • How effective are teaching, training and learning?
  • How well do programmes and activities meet the needs and interests of learners?
  • How well are learners guided and supported?
  • How effective are leadership and management in raising achievement and supporting all learners?

These questions help inform you as produce you Self Assessment Review and also help you prove quality to funders. An essential part of gaining funding is proving that you can do the job and do it well. Many funders now ask for organisations to have a quality assurance accreditation, like PQASSO, Matrix or Investors in People as this helps to prove that you have the systems in place to deliver quality outcomes. Even if you do not want to gain one of these accreditations, it is a good idea to adopt the practices that make up a good quality assurance system, as it will help you get the best out of your organisation and prove what you do.
